Business Building, Teaching and Connections
It was a big week at Rebel Educator!

Liberated Learners
On April 1 we had a great conversation around creating freedom in education for teenage learners. We had leaders from Massachusetts, California, Wyoming, Georgia and even Bermuda join us for this intriguing conversation.
We talked about:
How do we help children continue to be curious
The burden of high school
Is independent learning the disruption education needs
Learners who seek a different path
Being, or not being, an accredited program
Cool projects that high schoolers have done on their own time
What it really means to be self-directed
How to support learners with challenges
Being in a weird phase
And the thing I found most interesting: most of the self-directed learners in Kenneth’s programs go on to more traditional programs that offer some sort of certificate or degree whether it’s high school, college, trade school, or another program.
Students need the freedom to breathe, find themselves, feel trusted and feel connected.

A Final Note
What we learned together.
In our co-working calls we completed spreadsheets, discussed curriculum choices, wrote linkedin posts (that was me:), and held each other accountable to finish our tasks. We got so much work done we almost forgot our co-working hour was over!
In our Rebel Leader call we made new connections, discovered new resources for classes, assessment, transcripts, partnerships, and filled our cups on NOT BEING ALONE!
